Overplay Review

Overplay VPN is a relatively new company that since 2009 and has been providing fast and secure internet connections that come with the simplest setup and competitively low prices. The company was founded in New Jersey but there are offices in the UK and a host of servers spread out in almost every continent. The company has a blog through which they offer information on services and deals on their packages. In the beginning of 2011, Overplay redesigned their website to give it a sleek and more distinguished look. Now the website features a dark color and a static filled television with a play button.

This Overplay review looks at their services, the technology they use to encrypt connections, the services they render and the prices involved in all the packages. Users who want to encrypt their online connections with VPN mostly look for speed, great customer support and reasonable prices. In order to cut it as a great VPN provider, a company has to look into these areas and ensure every client experiences the fastest connection and has great support when they need it. This Overplay review looks at the company’s service to give you an idea of what to expect from them.

Connection Speed

Most VPN servers slow down connections to allow data encryption but Overplay significantly enhances connection speed for both people in the US and in other countries. An Overplay speed test done in the East Coast in the US shows minimal delay in speed and in downloads and uploads as opposed to the average networks that slow down connections and interfere with daily business. Fast connections can be expected when connecting to servers around the world whatever type of connection you are using.

Users need not be worried about traffic because the servers connect fast, and all the packages come with unlimited bandwidth and minimum restriction. There will be no public logs of your online activity except where legal complaints are involved. In such cases, Overplay would be required by law to provide information regarding your online activity, such as log in time and data usage. Because of this, users are encouraged to keep their business clean so they can continue to enjoy the service.

Compatibility

Overplay supports systems like Mac, Windows 7, (vista and XP), and Linux.

Mobile technologies supported are iPad, iPhone, iTouch and Android. All the devices work through PPTP VPN.

The following browsers are also supported: Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera and Safari. That covers all the major browsers in the online community.

Smart DNS servers

Websites which are restricted by local authorities can be accessed using smart DNS servers and Overplay offers these services by connecting without a VPN tunnel. All the pricing plans cover this feature so members can access virtually any website on earth even with existing restrictions. In addition, members have access to DDWRT firmware in case they come across technical problems.

Customer service

All support is provided through email where members can submit a ‘ticket’ and receive an answer through their mail. Foreign customers who cannot speak English will have to make do with the little they can speak because the company has yet to introduce another language in its customer support. However, since they are still new in the business this could be a temporary setback for foreign clients.

Money back guarantee

Customers can test out the services on a two day money back guarantee which gives them enough time to test out the service and ask for a refund if they are not satisfied with the services. The majority of users have given positive feedback as can be seen on any major Overplay review.

Pricing

All packages are unlimited but prices differ. The standard unlimited plan is $9.95/month and there  is a $99.95 annual plan.

  • $9.95 a month.
  • $27.95 for 3 months (Special).
  • $52.95 for 6 months (Special).
  • $99.95 for 12 months (Special)

Payment

Payment can be done through Paypal, Google checkout or 2checkout. Users can pay for monthly services, three months, six months or yearly subscription. With Overplay you can connect to their servers from any location but you cannot share a secure connection with family members who are using your computer from a different location. But still, the company allows significant virtual freedom for its customers, not to mention the fastest service and competitive rates.

Overplay review Conclusion

When you look at the services offered by Overplay, it stands to argue that they are among the best VPN providers in the world today. Their exponential growth can be attributed to their reliable service and carte blanche surfing for their clients.

  1. Been a customer of Overplay for around five years. Originally the service was ok, but recently speeds have dropped off and the service is unusable. I regularly achieve speeds fifteen times as fast with a competitor. Dreadful support and non-existent customer service. No refunds. AVOID!

  2. I signed up just now. I’m in Thailand. There is no service that I can find on Overplay for Thailand.
